Everything you need to know about remanufactured engines, crate engines, and the nFLOW Core Exchange Program.

Why Choose a Reman Engine?

Choosing a remanufactured engine from nFLOW offers several key advantages:

  • Cost-Effectiveness: The total cost of repair is often lower with a remanufactured engine compared to using a rebuild kit — a more economical choice in the long run.
  • Simplicity & Convenience: Our remanufactured engines provide a straightforward, drop-in replacement solution, eliminating hassle and reducing repair time.
  • Availability & Variety: nFLOW stocks remanufactured engines for a wide range of makes and models, ensuring quick access to the engine you need.
  • Environmental Benefits: Remanufacturing saves up to 85% of the energy, water, and material use compared to producing new engines.
What is a Crate Engine?

A crate engine is a fully assembled engine assembly shipped in a crate, ready to install. nFLOW specializes in remanufactured crate engines for ATVs, UTVs, and side-by-sides.

  • Fully Assembled: Arrives complete — engine block, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, cylinder heads, and valvetrain — ready for installation.
  • Exclusively Remanufactured: nFLOW offers only remanufactured crate engines, meticulously disassembled, inspected, and rebuilt to stringent specifications.
  • Convenience: Fully assembled and tested, greatly simplifying engine replacement.
  • Applications: Perfect for restoring older ATVs, upgrading UTV performance, or replacing engines in side-by-sides.
  • Variety: A diverse range to meet various specifications and performance requirements.
  • Warranty & Reliability: Backed by a warranty, ensuring quality and reliability you can depend on.
What is nFLOW's Engine Remanufacturing Core Exchange Program?

Our Core Exchange Program is a key element of the remanufacturing process. Here's how it works:

  • Initiation through Purchase: The program begins when a customer purchases a remanufactured engine from nFLOW.
  • Reusability of Components: A large percentage of engine components — like robust castings — are ideal for reuse, preventing waste.
  • Customer Priority: Our remanufactured engines are a reliable, efficient way to quickly get vehicles back on the road.
  • Mandatory Core Return: Customers return their old engine (the core) to nFLOW and receive an $800 credit as part of the exchange.
  • Core Evaluation: Each returned core is thoroughly evaluated; only cores that pass our assessment are selected for remanufacturing.
What is a Core?

A core is your old engine or part that is needed for remanufacturing. When you purchase a remanufactured ATV or UTV engine, you must return your original engine so it can be remanufactured and resold. This is essential because many ATV and UTV engine parts are no longer in production. Common components that require cores include engines, transmissions, and other critical engine parts.

What is a Core Deposit Charge?

A core charge is the value assigned to your old engine or part if you decide not to return it for remanufacturing. This fee varies based on the cost of the item and the availability of cores. In cases where a part is scarce, the core charge might even exceed the cost of the part. Returning your core is mandatory — if you do not return a core, you forfeit any core refund and are charged the core charge.

Rebuilt vs Remanufactured

The terms rebuilt and remanufactured refer to different levels of restoration:

  • Rebuilt: Disassembling, cleaning, and repairing or replacing worn or damaged components to restore functionality. Not every component is brought back to original specifications — only significant wear or failures are typically addressed.
  • Remanufactured: A more comprehensive process: completely disassembling the product, thoroughly cleaning all components, and replacing worn or outdated parts with new ones, then reassembling to the original manufacturer's specifications — essentially like-new condition.
